  2. HP's OmniBack/Turbo is a network backup management solution that
  3. provides centralized backup and recovery running on the HP9000 Series
  4. 800.  It adds the ability to perform high speed image backups of the
  5. Series 800 business server in addition to the features of OmniBack.

  7. High speed image backups permits OmniBack/Turbo to backup raw storage
  8. devices that are outside of the native HP-UX filesystem.  Relational
  9. databases such as Oracle configure entire disks as raw devices and
  10. impose their own file structure on those devices.  OmniBack/Turbo can
  11. backup these types of disks as well as the HP-UX system disks and also
  12. backup files from the network clients.

  14. It is designed for backup in a distributed networked environment of
  15. multiuser HP-UX systems as well as HP-UX workstations.  HP
  16. OmniBack/Turbo adds sophisticated scheduling and journaling facilities
  17. to the backup process.  OmniBack/Turbo's networking capabilities are
  18. based upon Apollo's NCS - Network Computing Services - an industry
  19. standard widely recognized for its distributed computing facilities.
  20. NCS functions are incorporated within OmniBack/Turbo.

  22. The distributed nature of OmniBack/Turbo lets an administrator provide
  23. centralized backup and control from any machine in the network.  Any
  24. file or disk in the the network can be backed up or restored to any
  25. backup device in the network such as the optical disk library.  This
  26. provides great flexibility and substantial operating efficiencies in
  27. maintaining networkwide data integrety and security.  The administrator
  28. can setup and schedule any number of unattended, automated backups with
  29. the optical disk library.
